What is this project about?
CPL is in the midst of it's most recent strategic plan. In this plan we outline our goals to connect with community partners, engage the people in our community, expand on what we can offer, and enrich culture, and preserve history. This project is about space optimization. We would like to expand our multi-use spaces, create more work, and study spaces for users, and introduce more accessible and inclusive spaces. We aim to do this by adding ergonomic furniture, having a smart board installed on our main floor to help with programming, we will build areas for private work, and make resources such as our basement archive collection easier to access by the community. We currently have a lower level, that is accessible with a lift, we would like to renovate our spaces below to accommodate more of our community partners, and have more people in the community accessing our spaces.
Why is this project important to the community?
The Cochrane Public Library wants to increase library visibility, strengthen community partnerships, and expand library services. The library aims to expand it's multi-purpose spaces, create more works, and study space, and make the spaces accessible.
