Working directly with families and referrals from stakeholders in children's services we are able to reach more children and hope to achieve well-being in an inclusive and a less intrusive manner.
Promoting inclusion and connection to healthy lifestyles through recreation can have a lasting impact, with the potential to reduce higher cost services in health care, social services, community safety and improve quality of life for all.
Our families represent single parent homes, new immigrants, recently unemployed, children living with grandparents, low-income wage-earning and recipients of social assistance.
As a result of participation in extracurricular activities our family survey found: 80% Improved mental health; 73% Improved physical health; 95% Made new friends; 86% Improved self-esteem; 85% Improved self-confidence; 58% Received a certification; 38% Recognized for a new skill; 33% Recognition for leadership; 25% Volunteered.
The survey results indicate that the support is making a positive difference in the development of the youth and children in our communities.
