The Recharge Project

What is this project about?

As a volunteer-driven organization, we thrive on the compassion and generosity of our volunteers, who dedicate over 10,000 hours each year supporting seniors and individuals across Eganville and the Whitewater communities. They are the friendly faces delivering meals, offering reassurance through phone calls, and providing connections to those who need it most.

To recognize their incredible commitment, we are launching The Recharge Project – a new initiative designed to promote volunteer wellness, reduce burnout, and celebrate those who give so much of themselves. Throughout the year, The Recharge Project will host a series of “wellness days” focused on rest, relaxation, and reconnection. Activities will include “Rest & Relaxation” days including reflexology, nail care, meditation, yoga, and sound baths. We will also host “Golf & Grill” days offering a free round of golf followed by a delicious BBQ at the Echo Centre. Each event is a heartfelt gesture of appreciation – a chance for volunteers to unwind, recharge, and feel valued for their vital contributions to our communities.

In addition to these larger, recharge events, we will also be recognizing groups of volunteers on a monthly basis through photos, impact statements, pictures and videos. This will not only help recognize the hard work and dedication to retain our volunteers, but will also help recruit new volunteers.

Why is this project important to the community?

In small, rural communities like ours, people are the heart of every program, service, and support. Volunteers often give so much of themselves to keep others well, yet they rarely have dedicated space or time to recharge and give back to themselves. The Recharge Project is important because it protects the strength and resilience of our community members and volunteers.

By creating intentional opportunities for rest, connection, and well-being, we are investing directly in the people who are the backbone of our organizations. This project helps prevent volunteer burnout, builds resilience, and reminds our volunteers, and older adults that their wellness matters too!
