This project aims to enhance the services offered by the Chapleau Public Library through the use of modern technology, benefitting both our local community and visitors from beyond. The library, located in the municipality building, serves as a key information hub for residents, and our neighboring First Nation communities.
Many people in our community cannot afford computers and internet services at home. Our library offers these services free of charge to any persons in our community and the First Nation communities.
Situated near the world's largest game preserve, our town attracts many tourists who come for camping, fishing and other outdoor activities. Additionally, there are several provincial parks in the surrounding area where internet access in either limited or unavailable, As a result, many visitors and First Nation members rely on the library's public computers to stay connected with family and friends.
To better meet the needs of our patrons, we are seeking to upgrade all three of our public computers, along with the necessary technological infrastructure, in order to provide more efficient, reliable, and accessible services to everyone in our community and the surrounding area.
