The STEM Program for Children and Youth is a skill-development educational initiative by Afro Canadian Development Inc. that provides free, hands-on learning in Coding and Robotics to children and youth aged 6–18 from underserved and low-income communities across the Greater Toronto Area.
The program aims to bridge the digital divide by offering equitable access to high-quality STEM education, empowering participants with essential 21st-century skills such as problem-solving, creativity, teamwork, and digital literacy. Through weekly in-person sessions delivered by our expert partners - MakerKids and Ultimate Coders - students learn Scratch and Python programming, as well as robotics and circuit design using Arduino technology.
Ultimately, this project is about inspiring the next generation of innovators - helping young people from marginalized communities discover their potential in science and technology while preparing them for future education and career pathways. By fostering curiosity and confidence, the STEM Program builds community capacity and contributes to a more equitable and tech-literate future for all.
