This proposal requests funding to support a series of enrichment and wellness activities for the low-income senior residents of Trenton Memorial Lodge. Many of these residents live on fixed incomes and have limited opportunities for social engagement, physical activity, and community participation.
Our proposed program aims to enhance quality of life, reduce social isolation, and promote physical and emotional well-being through a variety of activities including crafts, exercise classes, local bus trips, musical performances, movie nights with snacks, and an intergenerational elementary reading program.
Residents of Trenton Memorial represent a vulnerable population, with the majority living below the poverty line. Many experience barriers such as limited mobility, lack of access to reliable transportation, and social isolation. Research shows that engaging in group activities, physical exercise, and intergenerational programs significantly improves seniors’ mental health, cognitive function, and overall life satisfaction.
Currently, the building lacks the budget and resources to provide regular social or recreational programming. Without structured activities, many residents spend their days alone, with few opportunities to build community or stay active.
