Why is this project important to the community?

The alarming increase in violence in Lanark County underscores the urgent need for education. Abusers often isolate their victims, and in rural areas, this can lead to fatal outcomes. LCIH has developed a plan that we believe can transform how different groups, such as young children, college students, parents, grandparents, and community members, view violence. Prevention, education, and awareness are essential to breaking the cycle of violence against women and children. We understand that improving community awareness about domestic violence fosters a safer environment. We provide free training and workshops for schools, service providers, and community organizations to dismantle barriers and promote cultural change.
Community Impact: Domestic violence is not just a personal issue; it is also a public health concern with far-reaching effects on the community. By tackling these issues, the project aims to: Raise Awareness: Enhance understanding of domestic violence within the community. Reduce Stigma: Fight against the stigmatization of victims and promote open discussions. Improve Support Systems: Fortify community support for victims seeking assistance. Enhance Public Health: Help lower the healthcare costs linked to domestic violence.
