Renfrew Lions Club Dog Park Revitalization

What is this project about?

The revitalization of the Renfrew Lions Club Dog Park is all about community - we have a strong, close and passionate group of users and supporters of the Dog Park. Many of the park amenities (benches, gates, fences, etc.) require a renovation or refresh in order to continue to be a safe, enjoyable, and free service to users. Users have indicated a desire for more seating, play features for dogs, water service for drinking, and more.

Why is this project important to the community?

The Renfrew Lions Club Dog Park is the only off-leash dog park in the area, and services residents of the Town, residents of neighbouring municipalities, and even sometimes those travelling through Town on vacation or a road trip. We see a community of dog lovers growing at the Dog Park, whether it's a lunchtime rush of users, or users enjoying a coffee in our gazebo. We would like to improve features that need improving, and enhance the experience of users with additional features.

In addition to hosting free use of the space as an off-leash dog park, the Dog Park serves as the centre of some important events in the Town, including the the Renfrew Walk for Guide Dogs, which in 2025 raised $6021.00 to help assist Canadians with disabilities to navigate the world by providing Guide Dogs and no cost, as well as support in their partnership.
