Reconstruction of the Severn Bridge Fairgrounds Horse Ring Fence

What is this project about?

We are requesting funds to replace our deteriorating horse ring fence. Board members have worked to reinforce and replace sections of the existing fence in the past few years, but unfortunately the fencing is rotting and falling down, making it unsafe. The requested funds would cover the take down and removal of the existing fence, the material and installation of a new ranch style vinyl fence, as well as three gates to allow access to the horse ring. The proposed fencing would enclose the horse ring at our fairgrounds, ensuring safety to community members, riders, and the horses attending our fair. The proposed fencing materials are environmentally friendly, durable, require little maintenance, and will be structurally sound for many years to come.

Why is this project important to the community?

The Severn Bridge Fall Fair is a cherished tradition that attracts attendees year after year, and in 2025, we will celebrate its 150th anniversary. We anticipate a significant turnout for this milestone event. As the only public outdoor event space in Severn Bridge, the fairgrounds play a crucial role in fostering community engagement and connection.
The horse show at the fair exemplifies the dedication and discipline inherent in the equestrian sport. Participants can compete in various classes, including open pleasure and open hunter hack, providing a platform for riders of all skill levels to showcase their talents. This event not only encourages youth involvement but also motivates participants to enhance their equestrian skills at the community level.
Moreover, the horse show offers captivating entertainment for fair attendees, who consistently express their enjoyment of the performances. By supporting this initiative, we can further enrich the fair experience and strengthen our community bonds through shared appreciation and learning for equestrian sports.
