What is this project about?
This project will launch a large-scale community engagement and education campaign to mobilize residents, youth, and local leaders around protecting Lake Simcoe. It will deliver workshops in schools, develop online resources, host shoreline clean-up and planting events, and amplify the Coalition’s “Protect Our Plan” report through community forums and media outreach. The goal is to empower citizens with knowledge and tools to reduce pressures on the lake and advocate for stronger protections.
Why is this project important to the community?
Lake Simcoe is the heart of our community — socially, economically, and environmentally. But it faces growing threats from urbanization, salt pollution, climate change, and weakened environmental protections. Residents consistently say they want to protect the lake for future generations, but lack accessible, trustworthy information on what can be done. This project bridges that gap, empowering citizens to act, strengthening community ties, and ensuring decision-makers hear local voices.
