What is this project about?

Building Smiles One Slide at a Time

The McCaskill’s Mills Public School Community Council (SCC) is leading a community-driven effort to revitalize the playground at McCaskill’s Mills Public School in Cannington, Ontario. The existing playground has exceeded its lifespan, with key structures removed due to safety concerns. The remaining equipment is limited, unsafe for younger children, and not inclusive. This project will transform the big empty space, where a large structure full of excited children used to stand, into a safe, imaginative play area that encourages social and physical development.

We will build a new, inclusive, safe, and engaging play space, featuring slides and climbing equipment designed for children of all ages and abilities.

Why is this project important to the community?

At the end of each school day, students and their families flock to what remains of our playground. This space is typically well-utilized all year long, but unfortunately doesn't serve the needs of all ages and abilities at this time. This playground will once again serve as a vibrant hub for students, families, and daycare children. Located in the heart of Cannington, it promotes community engagement, active play, inclusion, and healthy development. Our community has come together in passionately supporting this project.
