What is this project about?
With funding from L.E.A.F., the Town of Pelham will transform the underused, outdated kitchen at Old Pelham Town Hall into a fully equipped and functional licensed kitchen, creating Pelham’s Community Kitchen - a vital and sustainable community resource that supports a farm-to-table approach.
Why is this project important to the community?
The Pelham’s Community Kitchen project aligns with two of five strategic priority areas approved by the Town of Pelham Council in the 2023-2027 strategic plan, including a) enhancing capacity and future readiness and b) community development and growth. Meeting both strategic priorities, Pelham’s Community Kitchen will enhance capacity and become a vital center for expanded programming, designed to foster a sense of community while equipping individuals with essential skills for healthy food preparation.
This project will serve Pelham’s growing population of nearly 19,000 residents, enabling the Town to broaden its offerings to encompass comprehensive food skills and food preparation programs that cater to a diverse range of community members, including families, seniors, and individuals seeking to improve their nutritional knowledge.
