North Perth Dog Park Initiative Project

What is this project about?

The North Perth Dog Park Project is to create the first off leash dog park in the municipality of North Perth. We want to create a dog park that is more than a fenced area of grass to allow dogs to run and socialize. We want a park where the owners can interact with their dogs, were dogs can interact with other dogs in a fun and joyful manner. We are looking to create a park that will have features to stimulate the doges, allowing them to play by themselves or with other dogs while their owners may visit with other community members all while watching and maintaining control of their dogs. We want to create a destination for dogs and their owners. A community hub for dog lovers. We wish to create a dog park that will be a drawing feature to the municipality. Our concept will allow for rental space if people wish to host private parties with their dogs, or possibly for group obedience training.

Why is this project important to the community?

We view our dog park as creating community engagement by giving those within the municipality and beyond a place to attend and engage with their dogs and other dog owners. by creating a destination site for dog lovers we believe that we will have a stronger community of dog owners who will then become more engaged in expanding the the area around the dog park to include walking trails to and around the new park facility. Recently our current Mayor went door to door campaigning and the request for a dog park was the third most discussed topic. Our community is asking for it.
