Music Care Certification for St. Joseph’s Hospice

What is this project about?

Music can calm, connect, and comfort. St. Joseph’s Hospice will become Music Care Certified with Room 217, training staff and volunteers and equipping care teams with evidence informed music resources. The program will enhance quality of life for residents in our 10-bed hospice and strengthen grief and bereavement support for clients and families. The certification includes staff training, the CONNECT app for care, and ready to use music care tools that build skills and community capacity.

Why is this project important to the community?

Families facing serious illness and loss need practical, person-centered tools that reduce distress and improve connection. Music care is simple to access, culturally adaptable, and can be used at the bedside, in groups, and at home. Certification will strengthen staff and volunteer skills, reduce stress, and improve engagement for residents and grieving families. Early adopters report measurable benefits including increased client engagement and reduced staff stress, which we aim to replicate locally.
