What is this project about?

Having successfully presented the TIFF prior to the pandemic, the Gallery is expanding its film offerings to include outdoor screening nights, in-gallery film events at our new location, and a festival-style series of curated film programs. To make this possible, the project seeks funding for essential film equipment, including an outdoor screen and projection tools, enabling the Gallery to engage new and diverse audiences, provide accessible and high-quality cinematic experiences, and strengthen its role as a vibrant cultural hub in the region.

Why is this project important to the community?

This project is important because it brings high-quality, contemporary cinema to the Kawartha region in ways that are accessible, inclusive, and engaging. Outdoor screenings and in-gallery film nights provide shared cultural experiences that foster community connection, celebrate creativity, and create opportunities for people of all ages to participate in the arts. By expanding the Gallery’s film program, the project strengthens the local cultural landscape, attracts new audiences, and ensures that Kawartha Art Gallery remains a vibrant hub for artistic and community engagement.
