Modernizing Curling Equipment: Ice Scraper Upgrade

What is this project about?

Our curling club is currently operating with outdated and unsafe ice maintenance equipment. The existing ice scraper, dating back to before 1987, is electrically powered, obsolete, and poses safety risks to our volunteers. This project seeks to replace the aging scraper with a modern, safe, and efficient unit to ensure high-quality ice conditions, enhance user safety, and support the continued growth of curling in our community.

The Land O' Lake Curling Club is more than a recreation facility, it is a rural community hub that connects residents to each other, build connections and foster a sense of belonging. In small towns, spaces like the curling club are critical for connection, wellness and inclusion.

Why is this project important to the community?

The current ice scraper is not only outdated but also poses safety risks due to its electrical components and age. Upgrading to a modern, safe unit protects the well-being of the volunteers who maintain the ice—many of whom are community members donating their time.
