Hop on! Our capital project - “Miles of Smiles Van Campaign” - aims to purchase a 15-seater transit van that provides more than just a ride — it will provide a journey to creativity for kids and teens in our community.
Getting to Streams Community Hub for our after-school or camp programs can be challenging for families without reliable transportation. The van is more than just a vehicle; it's an essential tool in our mission to remove the obstacles that prevent children and youth from accessing the resources they need to learn, grow, and thrive. This van will ensure that more young people can join us for the art, friendship, and personal growth that define our programs.

This project is vital to our community because it removes a significant barrier: transportation. Many families in Shelburne and the surrounding rural areas struggle to access programs and services due to limited public transit. Via feedback from families, we have determined that there would be a greater uptake of our programming if safe transportation to our facility were available. With a community-focused van, we can ensure that more children and youth will have access to our arts programs.
But it's not just about getting kids to class. Imagine seniors from local long-term care facilities being brought to our town hall theatre to watch our young performers light up the stage or drive them to our hub for intergenerational arts activities where they can share stories and creativity with younger generations.
This initiative will expand our horizons, connect people across generations, and help bring our community closer together in much-needed ways we haven’t yet imagined. More than just transportation; it's a vehicle for connection, creativity, and community spirit. With this van, we’ll be building a stronger, more inclusive, and vibrant community—one trip at a time.

STREAMS does so much for the community and youth by providing different areas of creativity. If they had a VAN it would provide that many more kids with the opportunity to take part in something at STREAMS. Giving kids an outlet for creativity is of the utmost importance. Who knows.. there could be a famous singer/songwriter, artist, musician, and so many other possibilities. Think about the kids you would be helping!
Having access to art based programs has been essential to my growth as a creative. It is so important that children have the ability to be involved in programs they are passionate about and be around people that inspire their dreams. They get all of this and more at Streams!

My Daughter attended Streams Community Hub this summer, my daughter is on the autistic spectrum and so with that comes an increased number of concerns around her “fitting in” and being accepted by the program organizers and other children. BUT at Streams I knew she would be safe, accepted and her diversity would be encouraged. Thank you Streams for ALL you do.
