Kaawaate East City Public School Needs A Playground

What is this project about?

In September 2021, Kaawaate East City Public School opened its doors to a diverse population of over 800 students and staff from the East City of Peterborough and surrounding areas. The Ministry of Education does not fund playground equipment, so the school and students are seeking your help to bring a playground to our beautiful community.

It is up to our school community to raise the funds for the full purchase price of the physical play structure(s), installation costs, ground surfacing, and ongoing maintenance.

Our goal is to build an inclusive playground that can meet the accessibility needs of our diverse Kindergarten to Grade 6 student population, and for this play space to enhance the East City community at large.

Why is this project important to the community?

There is currently no play structure available to the students at Kaawaate East City Public School. Building a playground for the school will offer children a safe, engaging space that promotes physical activity and helps develop their resiliency and problem-solving skills through play and social development. It also encourages community engagement by providing a welcoming environment where families can come together and build lasting connections. Overall, the playground will enrich children’s growth and strengthen community ties.
