What is this project about?
The Junior Ambassador Program aims to mobilize students throughout Waterloo Region who will have a voice in the school food programs at their schools. Offering training, support and mentorship, these Junior Ambassadors will work to co-create nutrition programs that work for the youth that Nutrition for Learning is currently serving. We believe that student voices and leadership are critical to ensuring School Food For All is accessible, meaningful and, above all, nourishing.
Why is this project important to the community?
When a students' basic needs are met, they are able to thrive inside the classroom and beyond. We cannot expect youth to learn, participate and contribute when all they can think about is where their next meal is coming from. If we envision a strong community, we need to support those who are going to take the reins -- today's students are the future leaders of our community, county and world.
