Harmony For All

What is this project about?

At Adelaide Access, a day program in CLL's Community Access Services, participants dive into activities both within the centre and throughout the community. Every day people enjoy cooking classes, swimming at the local YMCA, karaoke, hiking, sailing, volunteering, book club and much more.

Over the years, generous personal donations and community grants have allowed us to dream bigger and achieve more. Yet as we continue to grow, the needs and dreams of the people we support grow too.

Our staff at Adelaide Access envision a future filled with possibility, including a fully equipped music space where participants can explore everything from casual jam sessions to “School of Rock”-style performances.

A music program for people with developmental disabilities can include a wide range of engaging and accessible activities designed to encourage creativity, communication, and confidence. Participants can take part in group music sessions that feature singing familiar songs, rhythm games, and activities that promote listening and social connection. The program can offer opportunities for instrument exploration using adaptive or accessible instruments, allowing everyone to express themselves through sound.

Imagine a place where music breaks barriers, celebrates individuality, and brings people together in harmony.

Why is this project important to the community?

Receiving funding for a music program that supports people with developmental disabilities is vital because it ensures access, sustainability, and quality in a program that can truly change lives. Many people with developmental disabilities have limited opportunities to engage in the arts due to financial, logistical, or accessibility barriers. Funding allows a nonprofit organization to provide specialized instruments, adaptive equipment, skilled instructors, and inclusive environments where participants can thrive. It also helps the organization expand outreach, support more participants, and ensure that no one is turned away due to cost.

Beyond the music itself, funding fuels a program that promotes confidence, communication, emotional well-being, and community inclusion. It invests in human potential—helping participants discover their voices, connect with others, and experience the joy of creativity on equal footing. Funding transforms a good idea into an empowering, lasting impact.
