The Goodwood Public School Playground Revitalization Project is focused on replacing the school’s existing wooden playground, which was installed in 2016 and has now reached the end of its useful life. The new design will create a safer, more inclusive, and engaging outdoor space where students can play, explore, and connect with one another.
This playground holds special meaning for our community — it was the first ever built at the school and has been a well-loved gathering place for students, families, and neighbours for nearly a decade. With the wooden structure now needing to be retired, the School Community Council (SCC) is leading the effort to build a new, modern play space that continues the tradition of outdoor play and community connection at Goodwood Public School.
It’s important to note that the School Council does not receive any funding from the Ministry of Education, the Durham District School Board, or the school itself for improvements or construction of outdoor playground equipment. All funds for this project must be raised through community donations, sponsorships, and fundraising initiatives — making this truly a community-driven effort.
Led by the Goodwood School Community Council (SCC) in partnership with the Durham District School Board, school staff, and local families, this project will refresh a cherished community space and ensure it continues to serve students and neighbourhood children for many years to come.
