FutureMakers

What is this project about?

The FutureMakers Project is all about creating an innovative makerspace within the new Clearview Youth Centre, a dynamic hub where creativity, technology, and entrepreneurship come together. This new space will be equipped with modern tools such as tablets, computers, a printer, 3D printer, Cricut machine, sewing machine, and t-shirt press, allowing youth to explore hands-on learning in digital design, fabrication, and creative production. In addition to open access and a “Lend-a-Tool Library” for take-home maker kits, FutureMakers will offer a series of workshops focused on building future-ready skills, from coding and design to small business and entrepreneurship training. The project will empower youth to turn ideas into action, develop practical skills for future careers, and gain confidence as innovators and creators within their community.

Why is this project important to the community?

The FutureMakers Project is vital to our community because it addresses a critical gap in access to learning and skill-building opportunities for youth in Clearview Township, particularly those from low-income families. In a rural municipality where resources and extracurricular programs are limited, the Youth Centre often serves as the primary place for young people to engage in educational, creative, and social experiences outside of school. Without these opportunities, many youth would miss out on hands-on learning, personal growth, and the chance to develop essential life skills. By providing free access to technology, workshops, and take-home maker kits, FutureMakers ensures that all youth can explore their creativity, build confidence, and gain future-ready skills, strengthening not only individual outcomes but the well-being, innovation, and resilience of our entire community.
