Fire Circle Mural

What is this project about?

The vision for this project is to create a large, accessible fire pit area on the Nova’s Ark property that can be enjoyed by our guests, community groups, and for hosting Indigenous fire circles.

The fire pit will be designed in a circular layout, divided into four quadrants—each painted to represent a section of the Medicine Wheel, symbolizing balance and connection. At the center of the space, a custom-built, pyramid-shaped fire pit will serve as a unifying focal point for gatherings, storytelling, and reflection.

This space will offer a meaningful and inclusive setting for community connection, cultural learning, and shared experiences around the fire.

Why is this project important to the community?

We believe this project is important to the Nova’s Ark community because it supports ongoing learning and appreciation of Indigenous cultures, and that every child matters no matter what their need. It ensures that these teachings are not limited to a single day of recognition but are woven into the life and experiences of our community year-round.

The fire circle will provide a safe and reflective space where volunteers, visitors, and groups can come together to learn, connect, and honour the land. Our hope is to host Fire Circles that invite the wider community to share in these teachings, fostering awareness, understanding, and respect for Indigenous tradition, while including and recognizing the vulnerable and marginalized families that connect with Nova’s Ark daily.
