Enliven Cancer Care was created in 2016 to provide local compassionate support services for people affected by cancer in Muskoka. Through programming, information and support groups, Enliven provides community and connection for what can be a very isolating time. In 2026, Enliven broadened its mission to include the District of Parry Sound. We know that as the geographical area is vast, smaller communities have fewer opportunities to learn about and experience the supports that are available to them.
A Day of Care & Connection is a traveling community-based program designed to bring cancer support, education, wellness experiences and community directly to smaller communities across Muskoka and the District of Parry Sound.
Each event will bring together people living with cancer, caregivers and community members for a welcoming day where they can learn about available resources, hear from health and community professionals, and experience a sampling of supportive programs in a relaxed, accessible setting.
Participants might take part in a gentle movement session, creative expression, writing, therapeutic touch, mindfulness, caregiver support, educational presentations and facilitated discussions. Enliven will engage local organizations and service providers in the various locations to facilitate sessions whenever available.
The goal is to not only provide information, but to give people an opportunity to experience different forms of support and discover what might be helpful to them during their cancer journey.
By taking a day of education, connection and experiential programming into smaller communities, Enliven can reduce barriers, introduce people to local and regional resources, strengthen community connections and help people discover practical ways to support their physical, emotional and social well-being.
Enliven recently piloted this concept, garnering very positive feedback.
