Enhancing Multi-Use Spaces at the Brockville Public Library

What is this project about?

The Brockville Public Library has two rooms that see heavy use for programs and events, and which are also available to rent for local groups, individuals and organizations. Our largest and busiest room is in need of some upgrades to better accommodate the variety of uses of the space. We are seeking funding to purchase meeting room essentials including hybrid meeting technology, a whiteboard and projector, additional chairs to meet increased demand, and to upgrade our worn, mismatched and difficult-to-move tables for modern, mobile tables that will allow the room to transform for adaptable use. Additionally, the room is right next to one of two accessible washrooms in the building, with no door separating the two spaces. We are hoping to add a door so that program attendees and meeting room renters can enjoy the privacy of an enclosed space without compromising access to this washroom for the rest of the Library’s users.

Why is this project important to the community?

An investment in this space will benefit the many community members of all ages that attend Library programs, workshops and events, as well as the local organizations and businesses that need access to low-cost spaces for their meetings, conferences, fundraisers and other events. As an additional revenue stream, improving the experience for meeting room renters at the Library will also help to support the Library’s continued growth, allowing us to thrive and meet the evolving needs of our community.
