The Embrun Historical Society has dedicated over 1000 hours in the three years to conducting historical research and planning for the renovation of the train station and its transformation into a museum.
The organization’s mandate is to commemorate and celebrate the francophone history of Embrun. To do so, the ‘Société historique d’Embrun’ incorporated as a non-profit organization and has the status of a charitable organization. The administration board is made of local individuals. To achieve this goal, the ‘Société historique d’Embrun’ has planned to create an Embrun museum in the fully restored train station. We want to have a three-season museum with activities for the Embrun residents, within and around the museum to celebrate history and also create a strong sense of community in all Embrun residents, new and old. Ensuring the inclusivity and full participation of our community in this project lies at the core of our mission. We have undertaken several steps to embrace and involve our diverse community in the development and success of our project. Their active involvement has been instrumental in restoration efforts, decision-making, and planning, ensuring that the project resonates with the collective vision of the community. Looking ahead, our focus remains on continuous community engagement. We plan to host events, educational programs, and cultural activities that not only educate but also inspire and engage individuals of all ages and backgrounds. This inclusive approach aims to cultivate a sense of ownership and pride in our shared heritage. We strongly believe that a community can come together if they understand the history of their town, the strong values of hard work, innovation and dedication to mutual support that small towns offer.
