Courts to Careers: Exploring Opportunities Beyond the Game

What is this project about?

Courts to Careers will help youth explore the many career opportunities available beyond being a professional athlete. Through basketball, hands-on activities, mentorship and exposure to sports and media professionals, participants will learn about careers in coaching, media, photography, videography, event management, sports business and more. The project will help youth discover new possibilities, build practical skills and connect their interests in sports to future opportunities.

Why is this project important to the community?

Many youth in our community are passionate about sports but have limited exposure to the careers and opportunities that exist beyond playing. Courts to Careers will connect youth with sports and media professionals, provide hands-on career experiences and introduce pathways in coaching, media, photography, videography, event management and sports business. The project will help youth build practical skills, expand their networks and see how their interests in sports can translate into future education and career opportunities.
