County Food Hub

What is this project about?

This project will strengthen County Food Hub’s capacity to deliver community food programs, support local food entrepreneurs, and increase access to healthy food across Prince Edward County. Funding will help us improve our shared kitchen, expand community programming, and build the infrastructure and resources needed to support the growing demand for food literacy, food access, and culinary entrepreneurship. By investing in the Hub, we strengthen the entire regional food system and create more opportunities for people to learn, cook, share, and access good food.

Why is this project important to the community?

Prince Edward County faces rising food insecurity, growing barriers to food access, and a decline in basic cooking and nutrition knowledge. At the same time, local food entrepreneurs struggle to find affordable, certified kitchen space to develop and produce their products. County Food Hub addresses these challenges by providing a shared commercial kitchen, food literacy programs, community meal support, and collaboration across food-based organizations.

Strengthening the Hub means strengthening the entire local food system: more people learning to cook, more residents accessing healthy meals, more local businesses launching, and more community partners working together to address food insecurity.
