Connecting Culture

What is this project about?

Connecting Culture will create a network of touchscreen stations that provide residents and visitors with interactive access to local history, heritage and culture.

The stations will be used throughout Grey Highlands Public Library facilities and, where opportunities exist, other publicly accessible community locations. They will help residents and visitors learn more about their community, discover local stories and access historical information in an engaging and accessible way.

Content may include photographs, documents, stories, interviews and other materials that help share the history and culture of Grey Highlands.

The project will also support the preservation of local knowledge by creating opportunities to collect and share community stories and historical information that might otherwise be lost over time.

Connecting Culture builds on Grey Highlands Public Library's role as a community hub for learning, culture and local history while creating new opportunities to share and celebrate the heritage of Grey Highlands.

Why is this project important to the community?

Every community has stories worth preserving and sharing.

Grey Highlands has a rich history, but much of it is not easily accessible to the public. Historical photographs, personal stories and local knowledge are often scattered among collections, archives and private families.

This project will help bring those stories together and make them available to more people. It will create opportunities for residents to learn more about their community, help preserve local knowledge and encourage connections between generations.

By making local history easier to access, we can help ensure the stories of Grey Highlands continue to be shared and remembered.
