Community Outing Group

What is this project about?

This project aims to enhance the quality of life for seniors living with dementia by organizing safe, meaningful community outings. Participants will engage in familiar and enjoyable activities such as visiting local parks, restaurants, and cultural events. Outings will be designed to support social interaction, stimulate memory, and strengthen connections between participants and their community. Trained staff will accompany the group to ensure safety and provide individualized support. Our goal is to demonstrate that life with dementia can still be active, fulfilling, and connected to the broader community.

Why is this project important to the community?

This project will be the first of its kind in our community, offering seniors living with dementia the opportunity to engage with the community as a group. As our population ages and the number of individuals diagnosed with dementia continues to rise, it’s essential to provide care options that are not only supportive but also enjoyable and meaningful. By creating a program that is fun, engaging, and fosters a sense of purpose and belonging, we can help participants feel connected while also strengthening community ties. Over time, this initiative can help raise awareness and contribute to the development of more dementia-friendly spaces throughout our community.
