Community Centre Energy Efficiency Project

What is this project about?

Project Description – Heat Pump Installation at Kawartha Village Co-op Community Centre

The proposed project involves the installation of energy-efficient heat pumps at our community centre. Currently, the facility relies on electric baseboard heating, which has proven costly and inefficient, particularly during the winter months. The lack of an air-conditioning system also makes it difficult to maintain comfortable temperatures throughout the year. These temperature challenges have led to discomfort among members and, on several occasions, caused program cancellations during the colder seasons.

By replacing our existing heating system with modern heat pumps, we aim to improve year-round comfort, reduce operational costs, and enhance the overall experience for the individuals and groups who rely on our centre. This project has been reviewed and approved by our Board of Directors and aligns with our commitment to sustainability, community well-being, and responsible energy use.

Why is this project important to the community?

Upgrading the centre’s heating and cooling system is a vital step toward providing a comfortable, welcoming environment for all gatherings and events. This enhancement will not only improve the overall experience for attendees but also support greater use of the facility throughout the year.
