Carlington Community Healthbox

What is this project about?

This project will support and sustain the 24-hour “HealthBox” (Our Healthbox) located at CCHC, which dispenses free essential items — including socks, hats, snacks, tampons, pads, hygiene kits, and related supplies — to community members, around the clock, no questions asked.
By maintaining and restocking the dispenser, we aim to reduce barriers to basic self-care, address urgent needs tied to poverty, homelessness, food insecurity, and support dignity and health equity in our defined service area. https://www.ourhealthbox.ca/

Why is this project important to the community?

This project aligns directly with L.E.A.F.’s focus on community-based initiatives that advance equity, meet emerging needs and reduce barriers. By delivering essential hygiene/snack items in a 24/7 accessible format to a vulnerable catchment area, we are responding to increased need, enhancing dignity, and working within the social determinants of health framework to support better health outcomes.
