Caregivers are the quiet backbone of our health system. They provide daily physical, emotional, and practical support to older adults living with frailty, dementia, and complex health needs. Many give so much of themselves that their own wellbeing is at risk. They often face exhaustion and isolation, without access to the learning, rest, and connection they need.
"Caregiver Connection and Education" helps change that. Led by North Simcoe Muskoka Specialized Geriatric Services under Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care, the project gives caregivers the chance to learn, connect, and take a break. It also links them to clinical experts who can support both caregivers and the people they care for.
Through education, shared experiences, and practical support, caregivers gain knowledge, confidence, and resilience. By helping caregivers stay well, the project strengthens families and builds healthier, more connected rural communities.
