Barrier Free Playground Development

What is this project about?

This project will provide an outdoor, barrier-free playground with sensory friendly equipment, inclusive play structures and barrier-free pathways, ensuring all children, regardless of ability can engage in meaningful play and have a space to thrive and belong. It will offer families, caregivers and the local community a safe, therapeutic space for children to self-regulate, explore and play with their siblings, classmates and friends.

Why is this project important to the community?

Every child deserves a space where they feel safe, supported, and feel they belong. At Oak Bridge Academy, Clinical and Community Services, we are dedicated to creating inclusive, accessible environments that foster growth, independence, and well-being for neurodiverse children and youth. Through specialized programming and thoughtfully designed spaces, we ensure that every child can engage, explore, and thrive in a setting tailored to their needs. As we expand into our new location at the YMCA, we are transforming the space into a fully barrier-free environment to better serve the diverse community.
