Our project aims to improve the overall living conditions and care of the horses at our shelter by expanding and upgrading our barn facilities. Specifically, we plan to build additional indoor stalls (boxes) to accommodate the growing number of rescued horses and to ensure they have a warm, safe place to stay during the harsh winter months.
These improvements will also include renovating the interior of the barn — adding better insulation, ventilation, and flooring — to create a more comfortable and secure space for the horses as well as for our volunteers and caregivers who work tirelessly to look after them.
By completing these renovations, we hope to enhance the quality of care we provide year-round, reduce weather-related risks to the animals, and improve the efficiency and safety of daily operations. This project is a crucial step in helping us continue our mission of rescuing, rehabilitating, and providing a second chance to neglected and abandoned horses in our community.
This project is vital to our community because Refuge – Les chevaux d’Espoir provides a safe haven not only for rescued horses but also a place of connection, education, and healing for people. Our shelter welcomes volunteers, families, and school groups, and we run programs that help individuals of all ages — including those on the autism spectrum — build confidence, empathy, and emotional well-being through their interactions with horses.
By improving our facilities and ensuring our horses are healthy and comfortable year-round, we can continue offering these valuable programs and expand our positive impact on the community. Our work promotes compassion, inclusion, and awareness about animal welfare, while also creating opportunities for people to engage in meaningful, therapeutic experiences.
Ultimately, this project supports not just the animals we rescue, but the well-being and strength of the community that surrounds them.
