Technology Workshops for Seniors

What is this project about?

This project is focused on delivering a series of technology workshops specifically designed for seniors. These workshops aim to help older adults become more comfortable and confident when using digital technologies in their daily lives. Using plain and clear language, the sessions will break down complex topics into easy-to-understand lessons. Topics covered will include Internet and email usage, recognizing phishing and scams, online safety and cybersecurity, social media, online banking and shopping, artificial intelligence, and the use of multi-factor authentication. By improving digital literacy, this project empowers seniors to stay connected, informed, and independent, while also enhancing their overall quality of life in an increasingly digital world.

Why is this project important to the community?

In today’s digital world, technology plays a vital role in everyday life, from staying connected with loved ones to accessing essential services like online banking and healthcare. However, many seniors struggle with using digital tools, leaving them at risk of isolation and vulnerability to online scams. Without the skills to navigate the internet safely, they may miss out on opportunities to stay informed, maintain independence, and protect themselves from cyber threats.

This project is important to the community because it helps seniors develop the digital skills they need to stay connected and safe in a digital world. By offering clear, accessible workshops, we aim to give seniors the confidence to use technology for everyday tasks, improve their quality of life, and reduce the risk of online exploitation. Ultimately, the project will help build a more inclusive community where seniors can participate fully, remain independent, and maintain meaningful connections with others.
