Parking Surface Accessibility Project

What is this project about?

The project involves completing the last phase of our accessibility initiative at our offices on Hixon Street in Beamsville. By paving the existing gravel parking lot, we will be able to ensure a safe and easy entry into our building for program participants. The current parking lot poses a barrier to clients and volunteers who use accessibility devices (walkers, wheelchairs) to enter the building for our programs. Having a smooth transition into the building will invite more participants to our programs and services.

Why is this project important to the community?

Many members of the general public, our volunteers and clients have mobility challenges. The current parking lot is gravel which poses challenges to those with mobility devices, with a risk of falls. Rose Cottage in our current location is a "hub" within the community, offering support and resources to clients and families dealing with a life limiting illness. With traffic to the office increasing year over year, we estimate that this project would benefit approximately 15,000 people over the next ten years.
