What is this project about?

CIREL (Ready for Tomorrow) is an innovative bilingual program created by UCBH (Community Unity for Holistic Well-being) in London, Ontario.
The project aims to help newcomers and vulnerable individuals build employment resilience, confidence, and long-term inclusion in the workforce.

CIREL ((Centre d’Innovation et de Résilience pour l’Emploi Local / Centre for Innovation and Resilience in Employment and Local Integration) offers a three-phase pathway:
- Prepare: holistic assessment, stabilization of basic needs, and adaptation to Canadian workplace culture;
- Experiment : supervised internships in local companies to gain real Canadian experience;
- Anchor: personalized post-employment follow-up to prevent job loss and promote well-being at work.

The program bridges people, employers, and communities, ensuring that inclusion is not just about finding a job it’s about keeping it and thriving.
Offered in English and French, CIREL directly supports The Commonwell’s L.E.A.F. priorities of learning, resiliency, and community growth.

Why is this project important to the community?

In London and Middlesex, many newcomers face isolation, underemployment, and early job loss despite their qualifications and motivation. The lack of post-employment support and cultural adaptation services often leads to discouragement and instability.

CIREL – Ready for Tomorrow addresses this urgent need by creating a bridge between individuals and the local workforce. It helps newcomers not only find jobs, but also maintain them, build confidence, and feel truly included.

For our community, this project means fewer people falling through the cracks, stronger connections between employers and employees, and a more resilient and inclusive local economy where everyone can contribute their skills and experience.
