Baxter Arts owns a building in Bloomfield, a former cafeteria for the canning factory located across the road. The Board is in the midst of improving the accessibility of the building and completed an accessible front door and accessible walkway project, bringing those who need a low-barrier space into the building. The Board has identified that the current washroom facilities at the centre do not meet current accessibility requirements meaning that while everyone can now access the space, we do not have washroom facilities that all for dignity and access for all.
This project includes fully accessing the current washroom space, having architectural drawings done up to explore the best option to meet accessibility requirements, applying for a building permit, and contracting for the renovation of the space and installation of accessible facilities including all bathroom items (toilet, sink with automatic faucet, angled mirror, soap dispenser, change table) and an automatic door.
